| Towards the end of the 80ies, UC Berkeley professor John Ousterhout |
| realized that writing small scripting/configuration languages for his |
| applications was a time-consuming endeavour, and thus created one |
| language that could be used for embedding and extending his |
| programs. Since then, Tcl has grown and matured, and continues to be |
| one of the best scripting languages available because it is flexible |
| enough to be used for an impressive array of tasks, from the web, to |
| EDA's, to automated testing. This talk gives an overview of the |
| features of the Tcl system, like its extensibility (both in Tcl and |
| in C), flexibility, the Tk graphical toolkit, and more. |
