<p>For any square matrix A, there exist two permutation matrices
<code>P</code> and <code>Q</code>, a lower triangular matrix <code>L</code> and an upper triangular
matrix <code>U</code> such that</p>

<p>Unlike the LU decomposition computed with partial pivoting, this
decomposition is stable for singular matrices. It is also a rank-
