Distributed databases are becoming more and more popular. Social networks, online banking, and retail-—these are only a few examples of applications that might require horizontal scalability to achieve the performance, capacity, and availability that organizations require. Using the Apache Ignite platform as a basis, we will identify major internal mechanisms that a typical distributed database uses to achieve the required goals. We will describe the minimal architecture of distributed data storage—-the main components and how these components work together.

We'll look at why we're transitioning to reactive streams and how Ignite is being used to accelerate other technologies in the stack.
Just like Ignite 3, the next-gen of Hypi itself is using Apache Calcite as a data virtualisation layer. The talk will explore a little of how this is being done and finally will discuss some challenges and pitfalls to avoid.

We will provide best practices on how best to structure and deploy in-memory applications on both public and hybrid clouds.

Every day, millions of people travel by train through the Netherlands—on one of the busiest rail infrastructures in Europe. More than 10,000 train movements are performed daily. Planning for all these train rides and designing a timetable that avoids hazardous situations is a challenge. And, the challenge is constantly increasing, with more travelers every day and more trains on every new timetable. To meet this challenge, JDriven built a space-based architecture with Apache Ignite. Ignite provides a distributed, horizontally scalable data and computational grid. The grid is used to calculate all train movements on the rail infrastructure. Thus, it becomes possible to detect potentially hazardous situations and report them to the planners, so timetable reliability can be improved. Such improvements help Nederlandse Spoorwegen (the Dutch main rail network) and ProRail to ensure that everyone travels safely to their destination.

To make such services functional and reliable, the engineers who develop MSOs have to solve many challenges. The challenges are related to deployment in the cloud and in Kubernetes environments, monitoring, fault-tolerance, and recovery. Join this technical deep-dive, led by Andrey Alexander.
Serverless computing allows you to design and build scalable cloud-native applications without thinking about infrastructure provisioning and orchestration. With Apache Ignite, you can bootstrap an in-memory cluster in the cloud and access data 100-1000x faster than with disk-based databases. Join Denis discussing architectural patterns and design considerations for deploying Apache Ignite in a serverless computing environment.

The list of questions and challenges related to Ignite production monitoring goes on and on. And you’ll get many of those questions covered.
