MINOR: Use constant-time comparison for signed footer GCM tag (#3655)

The signature of an encrypted file with a plaintext (signed) footer is
verified in ParquetMetadataConverter.verifyFooterIntegrity by comparing
the stored GCM authentication tag against a recomputed tag. It used
java.util.Arrays.equals, which returns as soon as it finds a mismatching
byte, so the comparison time depends on how many leading bytes match. For
a MAC/authentication-tag check that is a timing side channel (CWE-208).

Replace it with java.security.MessageDigest.isEqual, which has the same
boolean contract (true iff both arrays are non-null, of equal length, and
byte-for-byte equal) but runs in time that does not depend on the number
of matching bytes. The change is behavior-preserving; tampered footers are
still rejected with a TagVerificationException.

Add TestFooterIntegrity covering both the accepted valid signature and a
tampered GCM tag that must be rejected.

Signed-off-by: Anas Khan <83116240+anxkhn@users.noreply.github.com>
GH-3719: Fix vectored read allocation limits and fallback safety (#3726)

## Why are the changes needed?

The Hadoop vectored-read path can fall back to ordinary reads after filesystem
requests have been submitted or results partially consumed. Replaying reads into
the same chunk builder can duplicate selected page data and return incorrect
filtered rows. Outstanding requests also need to retain ownership of their stream
and buffers during failure cleanup.

The current path requests a single buffer for an entire contiguous projected
range, without splitting it at `parquet.read.allocation.size`.

## What changes were proposed in this PR?

- Split requested ranges at the configured allocation size while preserving the
logical page/column plan. Verify dictionary and V1/V2 page checksums across split
buffers without another contiguous checksum allocation.
- Cache file length lazily. A non-interruption metadata lookup failure before
submission disables vectored IO for that reader and permits ordinary reads.
- Fail the read after filesystem submission is attempted, including synchronous
filesystem rejection; the interface cannot reliably distinguish rejection from
  partial submission.
- Share bounded vectored-read workers across readers: 64 by default, configurable
once through the JVM system property `parquet.hadoop.vectored.io.threads`.
Admission, submission, and range waits share one 300-second deadline. Admission
failure leaves the stream with its reader. Accepted operations retain capacity
until submission exits, the caller transfers or abandons buffer ownership, and
failure cleanup finishes. Cancellation cannot free capacity prematurely.
Idle workers in the default pool expire after 60 seconds.
- Allow engines to supply and share their own pool through
  `withVectoredReadExecutor(new VectoredReadExecutor(executor, maximumConcurrentReads))`
on read options or the `ParquetReader` builder. Reuse the wrapper to share an
admission limit across readers; both base and Hadoop options preserve it when
copied. The shared JVM pool remains the default. Parquet never shuts down a
caller-owned pool. Reject inline execution before filesystem submission and
  preserve the reader for retry.
- Track original allocator buffers, including merged and checksum allocations,
and transfer them to the row-group releaser on success. Preserve automatic
row-group cleanup on sequential reads and reader closure.
- Publish available Hadoop futures even when submission fails. After an operation
is accepted, invalidate failed readers and defer stream cleanup until submission
exits; release buffers only when completion can be established. Guarantee abort
with `finally` even when draining sibling reads throws an `Error`, and retain the
original failure as suppressed on the escaping error. Remove the unused CRC allocator.

The allocation setting bounds requested range lengths, not every filesystem
allocation: backends may merge ranges or align them for checksums and allocate
larger buffers. It does not bound footer/decoder allocations or total memory.
The worker limit does not bound threads created by the filesystem. A backend
that ignores interruption, or a blocked stream close, can retain capacity
indefinitely; when all workers are occupied, further reads time out at admission.
Missing, cancelled, or never-completing result futures can prevent safe buffer
reclamation. Caller-supplied executors must dispatch asynchronously, reject instead
of silently dropping work, and drain accepted tasks during shutdown. Reading
threads must not exhaust that same pool while waiting for their vectored work.

## How was this PR tested?

Local validation used Java 17.0.20.1 with Maven 3.9.16 and Thrift 0.24.0:

- Full `parquet-hadoop` verification with default Hadoop 3.3.0: **877 tests,
  zero failures/errors, 26 Hadoop-capability skips**, plus **17 integration tests
with zero failures/errors/skips**. Packaging, API compatibility, dependency
analysis, Spotless, and RAT (274 approved licenses) passed.
- Focused Hadoop 3.4.1 run with `-Dparquet.hadoop.vectored.io.threads=2`:
**118 tests, zero failures/errors/skips**, including the real local-filesystem
  vectored and file-range bridge tests.
- `git diff --check` passed.

The focused run selected
`TestParquetFileReaderVectoredIO,TestParquetFileReaderVectoredOwnership,TestVectoredReadBufferAllocator,TestVectoredReadOperation,TestVectoredReadExecutor,TestDataPageChecksums,TestVectorIoBridge,TestFileRangeBridge,TestParquetFileReaderBufferLeak`.

Coverage includes shared admission across repeated retries, capacity retained
through blocked submission and cleanup, original-buffer ownership, interrupted
admission and reader reuse, queued aborts, and sibling errors with pending reads.
New regressions exercise caller-owned pools through both options builders and
copies, successful reads and error cleanup without pool shutdown, inline and
`CallerRunsPolicy` rejection, permit recovery, and retrying the same reader after
inline rejection.

The full unit suite used a RAM-backed temporary directory for its large-file tests.
Local setup also used a test-JVM hosts file for the machine hostname and interop
fixtures fetched at the commits pinned in the tests. No live S3 validation or
performance benchmark was performed.

GitHub CI for head `effbc384` also passed:

- Hadoop JDK 17 verification ran on merge revision `ad7b9934`, which includes this
head: **898 `parquet-hadoop` tests, zero failures/errors, 26 skips**. With default
Hadoop 3.3.0, all 22 `TestVectorIoBridge` tests were skipped; real local-filesystem
bridge coverage comes from the separate Hadoop 3.4.1 run above.
- Vector-plugin verification on JDK 17, 21, and 25, and zizmor analysis passed.

Closes #3719.
GH-3706: Mark writer aborted on end() failure to avoid flushing incomplete files (#3707)

### Rationale for this change

Makes ParquetFileWriter#end() mark the writer aborted before flushing, so an incomplete file is never committed on failure. Previously close() ran before the catch block in withAbortOnFailure and withAbortOnFailure only caught IOException, causing:

- an incomplete file being flushed to storage when serializing indexes/stats/footer throws any exception
- a RuntimeException (e.g. OOM) to be missed, leaving the writer un-aborted and still flushing

### What changes are included in this PR?
- withAbortOnFailure catches Throwable (not just IOException) and marks the writer aborted.
- end() runs close() in an outer finally, so abort happens before close() and the flush is skipped on failure.

### Are these changes tested?
Yes. 2 new tests in TestParquetFileWriter inject an IOException/RuntimeException during end() and assert the stream is never flushed.

## Are there any user-facing changes?
No. Successful writes are unchanged; only the failure path is affected.

Closes #3706
GH-3772: Bulk skip in RunLengthBitPackingHybridDecoder / DictionaryValuesReader (#3773)

### Rationale for this change

`ValuesReader.skip(int n)` defaults to a naive loop of `skip()` calls. For dictionary-encoded columns each `skip()` bottoms out in `RunLengthBitPackingHybridDecoder.readInt()` — a mode switch, array indexing, and a value the caller immediately discards. Any filter-then-skip path (column-index row ranges, hash-join probe filtering, runtime filters) pays this cost per skipped row.

`RleSkipBenchmark`, JMH throughput, JDK 17, 100 k values/op:

| pattern | bitWidth | `readInt()` loop | `skipInts` | speedup |
|---------|---------:|-----------------:|-----------:|--------:|
| rle | 8 | 1.38 B/s | 104.9 B/s | ~76× |
| packed | 8 | 0.89 B/s | 4.12 B/s | ~4.6× |
| mixed | 8 | 0.96 B/s | 6.99 B/s | ~7.2× |

### What changes are included in this PR?

- New `RunLengthBitPackingHybridDecoder.skipInts(int)` — re-uses `readNext()` per run, then advances `currentCount` by `min(n, currentCount)` instead of walking every value through `readInt()`.
- `skip(int)` overrides on `DictionaryValuesReader` and `RunLengthBitPackingHybridValuesReader` delegating to `decoder.skipInts(n)`.
- `parquet-benchmarks / RleSkipBenchmark` JMH benchmark.

`readNext()` and the `ValuesReader.skip(int)` default are unchanged.

### Are these changes tested?

`TestRunLengthBitPackingHybridDecoderSkip` covers RLE-only, PACKED-only, mixed, zero-skip, full-skip, mid-run partial skip, `bitWidth = 0`, and a randomised 4 K-value read/skip interleaving cross-checked against a `readInt()` reference. All `parquet-column` tests pass.

### Are there any user-facing changes?

No. Additive and binary-compatible: no signatures change; `skipInts(n)` is semantically identical to N discarded `readInt()`s. Existing callers of `ValuesReader.skip(int)` pick up the fast path with no code change.
GH-3751: Preserve field repetition when truncating recursive proto fields (#3752)

The maxRecursion truncation (PARQUET-1711) replaced recursive fields
with a hardcoded optional binary, while ProtoWriteSupport still wraps
repeated/map fields' writers in ArrayWriter/RepeatedWriter/MapWriter.
Writing data that nests deeper than maxRecursion through a repeated
recursive field crashed with a ClassCastException in parquet-specs mode
and corrupted the file in the old style (inconsistent repetition
levels: reads fail with ParquetDecodingException or return a wrong
tree). A map field exhausting the recursion budget collapsed entirely
- keys included - into one binary, and writing data through it crashed
the same way.

Truncate to proto bytes preserving the field's shape instead, reusing
the terminate-as-bytes path introduced for empty message types
(GH-2142): LIST-wrapped binary for repeated fields in specs mode,
repeated binary in the old style, and the MAP structure kept with the
recursive value truncated inside key_value (the map branch now runs
before the recursion check). Truncated optional fields are unchanged;
proto2 required fields now keep their required repetition.
GH-3816: Automatically detect list encodings in AvroReadSupport (#3753)

### Rationale for this change

parquet-avro supports writing both "old" and "new" list encodings via the [parquet.avro.write-old-list-structure](https://github.com/apache/parquet-java/blob/apache-parquet-1.18.0/parquet-avro/src/main/java/org/apache/parquet/avro/AvroWriteSupport.java#L72-L73) config. "old" encodings (aka "2-level"), which wrap the list in a `repeated group array` schema, are the default; "new" encodings (aka "3-level") are opt-in.

On the reader side, if you're using `ParquetAvroReader` to read data that was written using `ParquetAvroWriter`, and don't specify a projection, both type sof list encoding get parsed automatically from a combination of the file schema + the `parquet.avro.schema` metadata key. There's no need to set `parquet.avro.write-old-list-structure` key in your Configuration.

However, if you're either:

- specifying a projection (`AvroReadSupport.setRequestedProjection(...)`), or
- reading data _not_ written using ParquetAvroWriter (and thus not containing the `parquet.avro.schema` metadata key),

3-levle list encodings will not be parsed correctly - the reader will inject an extra nested record, named `element`, into the list item type.

As a reader this introduces some pain, since you have to look up the underlying file metadata of the upstream Parquet file, and risk reading incorrect data. This PR attempts to automatically detect new list encodings based on the writer file schema.

lmk what you think of this change. Automatic inference is always a bit risky, but I tried to be conservative with the approach (only set the list structure property if _all_ list fields in the schema use 3-level encoding; don't override `parquet.avro.write-old-list-structure` if the user is already setting it). any ideas for a better approach here are welcome - this is becoming more of a pain point as 3-level lists become a more popular option among other writer sdks.

### What changes are included in this PR?

A new read configuration property `parquet.avro.read.autoDetectListStructure` (defaulting to true) that will instruct AvroReadSupport to automatically set List configuration properties based on parsing the writer file schema.

### Are these changes tested?

Yes, unit tests + locally on real data.

### Are there any user-facing changes?

Yes, since the new property defaults to `true` - it would impact anyone who's reading 3-level list data without setting the `parquet.avro.write-old-list-structure` key and who's relying on/working around the incorrectly formatted data (e.g. `{"locations": [{"element": {"latitude": 0.0, "longitude": 180.0}}, ...]}` instead of `{"locations": [{"latitude": 0.0, "longitude": 180.0}, ...]}` .

additionally, this change also modifies the underlying Configuration object to add the properties.

Closes #3816
GH-3080: HadoopStreams to support ByteBufferPositionedReadable (#3096)

### Rationale for this change

If a stream declares in its StreamCapabilities that it supports
`ByteBufferPositionedReadable`, then use that API for
`readFully(ByteBuffer)`

```
ByteBufferPositionedReadable.readFully(long position, ByteBuffer buf)
```

Adding support for Hadoop `ByteBufferPositionedReadable` streams may improve performance
by pushing retry/recovery logic into the filesystem client library.

This interface is implemented by the HDFS input stream; we are considering adding
it elsewhere.

### What changes are included in this PR?

* New SeekableInputStream implementation: `H3ByteBufferInputStream`
* Instantiated in `HadoopStreams` if the `FSDataInputStream` is considered suitable.
* Tests for the new behavior and that no regressions are caused.

#### Class `H3ByteBufferInputStream`

The reading is done in a new class, `H3ByteBufferInputStream`, which subclasses `H2ByteBufferInputStream`. This reduces the amount of duplicate code, it just makes it a bit unclean.

The purist way to do it would be to create an abstract superclass `HadoopInputStream` to hold all commonality between the the three input streams.

I'm happy to do this, just didn't want to doing some larger refactoring without (a) showing the core design worked and (b) getting permission to do this. Should I do this?

#### `HadoopStreams` changes

Selection of the new input stream is done if and only if the stream declares the capability `in:preadbytebuffer`.
There is no equivalent of `isWrappedStreamByteBufferReadable()` which recurses through
a chain of wrapped streams looking for the API.
If a stream doesn't declare its support for the API, it won't get picked up.
This is done knowing that the sole production implemenation which currently exists,
the HDFS input stream, does declare this capability.

### Are these changes tested?

There is new test suite, for new behavior and ensuring that the integration with
HadoopStreams still retains the correct behavior for existing streams.
Suite is parameterized on heap and direct buffers.

### Are there any user-facing changes?

No

Closes GH-3080
GH-2142: Write fields of empty message types as proto bytes (#3750)

### Rationale for this change

Protobuf allows empty message definitions, but Parquet forbids empty groups. Converting a message
that merely *contains* a field of an empty message type produces a schema with an empty group,
which writer construction rejects with `InvalidSchemaException: Cannot write a schema with an
empty group`. Such fields appear in real-world schemas (deprecated stubs, marker/placeholder
messages), and a single one makes the whole message type unwritable.

### What changes are included in this PR?

`ProtoSchemaConverter.addMessageField` terminates a field whose message type has no fields as a
`BINARY` column holding the serialized message — the same mechanism PARQUET-1711 uses for
recursion beyond `maxRecursion`. Since an empty message serializes to zero bytes, the column is
cheap, and field **presence** still round-trips (null = unset vs empty bytes = set):

- singular field → `optional binary stub` (or `required`, per the field);
- repeated field, parquet-specs mode → LIST-wrapped binary via the existing
  `addRepeatedPrimitive`, so element cardinality survives;
- repeated field, old style → `repeated binary`;
- map value type → `optional binary value` inside the `key_value` group (keys stay typed).

`ProtoWriteSupport.createMessageWriter`'s existing truncated-field check (primitive BINARY where a
message field was declared → `BinaryWriter`) is generalized to look through the LIST/MAP wrapper
(`getGroupType` → `getContentType`), so the writer tree lines up with these schemas.

A message that is empty at the **root** is still rejected — there is no parent field to hold the
bytes, and a Parquet file with zero columns is not representable.

**Read side** (second commit, after review): `ProtoMessageConverter` used to cast every message
field's Parquet type to a group, so a message field stored as `BINARY` failed with a
`ClassCastException` while the converter tree was built — which also means files with
PARQUET-1711 recursion truncation have been unreadable by `ProtoParquetReader` since 1.13.0 (#995
shipped with an explicit "TODO: ReadSupport"). A new `ProtoBinaryMessageConverter` parses the
bytes back through `parentBuilder.newBuilderForField(field)` and hands the message to the existing
parent container, so singular fields, LIST elements, old-style repeated fields and map values all
round-trip without touching `ListConverter`/`MapConverter`. Parse failures surface as
`ParquetDecodingException`.

### Are these changes tested?

Yes. New `ProtoEmptyMessageTest` (new test messages `Stub`/`StubBox` in `Trees.proto`) writes
through the real write path (`ProtoParquetWriter` → `MessageColumnIO`, both specs-compliant and
old style) and reads back with `GroupReadSupport` and with `ProtoParquetReader`:

- singular / repeated / map-value empty-message fields round-trip with correct cardinality and
  zero-byte values;
- presence round-trips (set empty message vs unset field);
- `ProtoParquetReader` reads the written messages back equal to the originals (specs-compliant and
  old style), and the same read path round-trips a `BinaryTree` truncated at `maxRecursion`;
- an empty root message still fails with `InvalidSchemaException` ("Cannot write a schema with an
  empty group").

`ProtoSchemaConverterTest.testEmptyMessageFields` pins the converted schema. The full
parquet-protobuf suite passes (117 tests).

### Are there any user-facing changes?

Message types that previously could not be written to Parquet at all now can; fields of empty
message types appear as (possibly LIST/MAP-wrapped) `binary` columns and read back into the
original messages with `ProtoParquetReader`. Files with `maxRecursion` truncation, previously
unreadable by `ProtoParquetReader`, now read back as well. No change for schemas that were
previously writable. Error behavior for an empty root message is unchanged.

Closes #2142"

Nothing was cancelled: verification
is step 0, so the run aborted before dropping the staging repo or deleting
the SVN artifacts.

An absent secret expands to the empty string rather than failing, so the
credentials were present-but-blank and the first authenticated curl
reported only "error: 401". Add require_env and call it from all three
release scripts when DRY_RUN is not 1, so a missing credential is named
before any network call. Dry runs stay usable without secrets because
every authenticated call is already gated on DRY_RUN. _maven.sh had this
check for the deploy path only, which is why prepare-rc's Nexus 401 was
equally opaque.

Also apply #3787's tag-push ordering to publish-release.sh. It pushed the
final tag in step 3 and released the staging repo in step 4, so a Nexus
failure left a published release tag and the "Final release tag already
exists" guard then blocked the retry -- the same trap #3787 removed from
prepare-rc, where eight orphaned 1.19.0 RC tags accumulated. Keep git tag
-a in step 3 for the local reads that follow and move only the push to
step 5, immediately before the GitHub release that needs it on the remote.

Generated-by: Claude Opus 5 (1M context)
Prepare RC: use the repositories API to verify staged artifacts (#3794)

nexus_check_staging_artifact built URLs under /content/repositories/
/,
which does not serve open staging repositories. The check therefore failed
for every RC: prepare-rc.sh runs it before closing, so the repo is always
open at that point. 1.19.0-rc8 aborted this way even though the staging
repo was correct and complete.

Confirmed by probing repository.apache.org: /content/repositories/
/...
returned 404 anonymously, with a committer user token, and with the
deployer service account, while /service/local/repositories/
/content/...
returned 200. Closing the repo by hand flipped /content/repositories/ to
200, confirming it only serves closed repos.

Switch to the repositories API, which serves a staging repo in both states.
That matters because this function has call sites on both sides of the
close: prepare-rc.sh checks pre-close (open), while cancel-rc.sh and
publish-release.sh reach it via nexus_verify_staging_repo post-close
(closed). Neither of those had run against real Nexus, so both carried
the same latent failure.

Verified against a live staging repo in both states, and end-to-end by
running cancel-rc.sh against a closed repo, which also exercised
nexus_get_staging_repo_metadata and nexus_drop_staging_repo for the
first time.

Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Prepare RC: push the RC tag only after staging succeeds (#3787)

prepare-rc.sh created and pushed the RC tag at step 5, then did the work
that can actually fail -- Nexus deploy, source tarball, SVN staging -- in
steps 6-8. Every failure in that window left a published tag and consumed
an RC number; 1.19.0 accumulated eight orphaned tags (rc0-rc7, all on the
same commit) that way, and cancel-rc.sh cannot clean them up because it
requires a live staging repository.

Keep `git tag -a` at step 5 so local consumers still resolve it -- step 7
reads it via `git rev-list -1` and `git archive`, both local -- and move
only `git push origin <tag>` to step 9, immediately before the GitHub
pre-release that needs it on the remote. A failure in steps 6-8 now
leaves the tag only on the runner, so a retry reuses the same RC number
with no ref surgery.

The branch push stays at step 5: it publishes the version-bump commit, is
idempotent, and is what lets a retry skip the version update.

Trade-off: staged artifacts are briefly visible before the tag exists,
and a tag push failing after staging succeeds leaves a staged RC with no
tag. Recovery there is one idempotent `git push origin <tag>`, which is
cheaper than deleting a published ref.

Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
GH-3487: Fix `PageReadStore` buffer leak in `ParquetFileReader` (#3488)

* GH-3487: Fix PageReadStore buffer leak in ParquetFileReader

Why

ParquetFileReader never closes the ColumnChunkPageReadStore it returns from readNextRowGroup(). When a subsequent readNextRowGroup() call is made, the previous row group's reference is silently overwritten without releasing its buffers. Likewise, ParquetFileReader.close() does not close the last row group it returned. With the default heap allocator this leak is masked by GC, but with a direct ByteBufferAllocator (e.g., one backed by Arena.ofShared()) the compressed column chunk data and decompressed page buffers become a hard native memory leak that grows with every row group read.

What

Add a closeCurrentRowGroup() helper to ParquetFileReader that null-safely closes and nulls the currentRowGroup field. Call it in readNextRowGroup() and readNextFilteredRowGroup() before assigning the new row group, and include currentRowGroup in the AutoCloseables.uncheckedClose() chain in close(). This matches the lifecycle pattern already implemented manually by InternalParquetRecordReader but bakes it into ParquetFileReader itself so all direct callers benefit.

* Update ParquetFileReader.java
GH-3696: Cache ParsedVersion in FileMetaData and use it in fromParquetMetadata (#3700)

### Rationale for this change

`VersionParser.parse(createdBy)` is called from 7 production sites, all parsing the same constant string from `FileMetaData.getCreatedBy()`. In `fromParquetMetadata`, this happens R×C times (once per column per row group) during footer metadata conversion. Since `FileMetaData` is constructed once per file and already stores the `createdBy` string, it is the natural place to parse once and cache the result.

This PR caches the parsed version and migrates the first (and hottest) call site — `ParquetMetadataConverter.fromParquetMetadata` — to use the cache, eliminating redundant `VersionParser.parse` and `SemanticVersion.parse` calls from the R×C inner loop.

Fixes the 1st item in this issue https://github.com/apache/parquet-java/issues/3696

### What changes are included in this PR?

- Add `getWriterVersion()` to `FileMetaData` with lazy-init via an immutable `WriterVersionResult` holder (thread-safe, double-checked locking)
- Retain the semantic-version parse failure in `ParsedVersion` so cached callers can reuse the original exception without reparsing
- Add `shouldIgnoreStatistics(ParsedVersion, String, PrimitiveTypeName)` overload to `CorruptStatistics` that uses the cached `SemanticVersion` directly and keeps the original `createdBy` string for logging
- Refactor `ParquetMetadataConverter.fromParquetMetadata` to construct `FileMetaData` before the row-group loop and use the cached `ParsedVersion` in `buildColumnChunkMetaData`
- Share the statistics conversion implementation between the existing String path and the cached `ParsedVersion` path
- Fall back to the String-based path when `getWriterVersion()` throws `VersionParseException` to preserve the existing logging behavior

### Are these changes tested?

Yes.

- `FileMetaDataTest` — 6 tests covering valid, null, empty, unparseable version strings, and caching
- `CorruptStatisticsTest.testShouldIgnoreStatisticsWithParsedVersion` — covers all branches of the new `ParsedVersion` overload, including null, non-parquet-mr, empty version, invalid semver, retained parse failure, corrupt, and fixed versions
- `TestParquetMetadataConverter.testV2StatsDoNotTriggerCorruptStatisticsCheck` — verifies that V2 min/max statistics bypass the corrupt-statistics check

### Are there any user-facing changes?

No breaking changes. Adds new public methods:

- `FileMetaData.getWriterVersion()` — returns cached `ParsedVersion`, throws `VersionParseException` for unparseable strings
- `CorruptStatistics.shouldIgnoreStatistics(ParsedVersion, String, PrimitiveTypeName)` — for callers that already have a parsed version; the String parameter preserves the original `createdBy` value for logging
- `ParquetMetadataConverter.fromParquetStatistics(ParsedVersion, String, Statistics, PrimitiveType)` — converts statistics using a cached writer version
- `ParquetMetadataConverter.buildColumnChunkMetaData(ColumnMetaData, ColumnPath, PrimitiveType, ParsedVersion, String)` — builds column metadata using a cached writer version

Closes #3601
Fix data corruption in ByteBufferBackedBinary.getBytes() for non-array-backed buffers (#3717)

FixedLenByteArrayPlainValuesReader hands out Binary values that all
share one page-wide ByteBuffer, advancing its live position on every
readBytes() call. getBytes() and toStringUsingUTF8() on the
non-array-backed path called value.limit(offset + length) directly on
that shared buffer before capturing position. ByteBuffer.limit()
clamps position down whenever position > newLimit, so calling
getBytes() on an earlier value after later values have already
advanced the buffer permanently rewinds its live position -- corrupting
every readBytes() call that follows.

This surfaces as data corruption when reading a repeated
(LIST) FIXED_LEN_BYTE_ARRAY column with 2+ elements per row across 2+
rows: record assembly stores each Binary and only materializes it once
a full row is built, which is exactly the lazy-after-later-value
pattern that triggers the clamp. Each subsequent row reads back the
previous row's last-written element instead of its own.

Fix both methods to duplicate() the buffer before adjusting its
position/limit, so the shared buffer's own position is never mutated.

Co-authored-by: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Fix Maven parent and JUnit test compatibility (#3727)

### Rationale for this change

The project version is now `1.19.0-SNAPSHOT`, but the vector plugin modules still declared `1.18.0-SNAPSHOT` as their parent. Once that reactor issue was corrected, CI exposed two test files that still used JUnit 4 even though this repository enforces JUnit 5 and AssertJ for non-benchmark tests.

### What changes are included in this PR?

- Update the parent version in `parquet-encoding-vector` to `1.19.0-SNAPSHOT`.
- Update the parent version in `parquet-plugins-benchmarks` to `1.19.0-SNAPSHOT`.
- Migrate `TestConcatenatingByteBufferCollector` assertions to AssertJ.
- Migrate `ByteStreamSplitScalarOptTest` to JUnit 5 and AssertJ.

### Are these changes tested?

The existing `Vector-plugins` and `CI Hadoop 3` workflows cover the updated Maven reactor and test sources.

### Are there any user-facing changes?

No. This aligns Maven metadata and test conventions so the existing CI/build can resolve the correct parent version and compile the tests.
GH-3530: Eagerly release column buffers (#3571)

* GH-3530: Eagerly release column buffers during row group flush

Release each column's compressed page buffers immediately after writing
to disk in flushToFileWriter(), rather than holding all buffers until the
entire flush completes. This is correct resource management that makes
buffers GC-eligible sooner, though benchmarking with a PeakTrackingAllocator
confirms it does not reduce peak memory: the peak is reached during the
write phase (as pages are compressed), not during flush.

Changes:
- Call pageWriter.close() after each column in flushToFileWriter()
- Add writeAllToAndRelease() to ConcatenatingByteBufferCollector for
progressive slab-by-slab memory release during write
- Make close() idempotent (safe to call after eager release or double-close)
- Add RowGroupFlushBenchmark (20-column wide schema, PeakTrackingAllocator)
and BlackHoleOutputFile for measuring flush performance and peak memory
- Add tests for eager release, double-close safety, and output equivalence

* Address review feedback: try-with-resources and progressive release in writeAllTo

- Merge writeAllToAndRelease into writeAllTo so progressive buffer
release is used in production (via ParquetFileWriter.writeColumnChunk).
- Add comment explaining why the WritableByteChannel is intentionally
not closed (closing it would close the caller's OutputStream).
- Use try-with-resources in flushToFileWriter for idiomatic cleanup.
- Capture buf.size() before write in writeToFileWriter since writeAllTo
  now releases buffers progressively."
