With pgx v5 this can release the raw transaction
lock, so gpbackup was not blocked and the test observed 0 deadlock traps.

Use explicit DBConn transactions, separate polling connections, wait for
goroutines before closing connections, and wait for the expected 2 blocked
AccessExclusiveLock requests.

* Fix pgx v5 PgError handling.
After moving to pgx v5, database errors are returned as
pgx/v5/pgconn.PgError. The old jackc/pgconn type assertions no longer
matched, so backup lock handling could treat unexpected errors as
lock-not-available, and restore COPY errors could lose their CONTEXT.

Use errors. As with pgx/v5 pgconn in backup and restore code, update the
restore test, and remove the old pgconn dependency.

* Fix lock e2e test transaction handling.
The deadlock and signal handler e2e tests still held locks with raw BEGIN/COMMIT SQL on DBConn and reused those connections for pg_locks polling.
With pgx v5 this can release the raw transaction lock or leave goroutines polling on closed connections, causing missing blocked-lock counts and DBConn.Get panics.
Use explicit transactions, dedicated lock and polling connections, and synchronize goroutines before closing test connections.

* Fix gp_segment_configuration lock e2e test.

The test intended to verify that gpbackup does not keep a lock on
pg_catalog.gp_segment_configuration after passing that metadata query and
blocking later on pg_catalog.pg_trigger. However, the old test did not actually
exercise that state: it used raw BEGIN/COMMIT SQL through DBConn, committed before gpbackup was started, queried pg_locks in an unsynchronized goroutine, and ignored query errors while scanning SELECT * into an int.

Use an explicit DBConn transaction on a dedicated lock connection, start
gpbackup while the pg_trigger lock is still held, wait until gpbackup is visibly
blocked on pg_trigger, and then synchronously assert that no
gp_segment_configuration locks remain. Finally release pg_trigger and verify
gpbackup completes successfully.

---------

Co-authored-by: woblerr <antkurochkin@gmail.com>
gpbackman: fall back to coordinator data dir for history db, fail loud when missing.

Two improvements to how gpbackman locates and opens gpbackup_history.db:

1. When --history-db is empty, fall back (in priority order) to
 $COORDINATOR_DATA_DIRECTORY and $MASTER_DATA_DIRECTORY before the
current directory. These variables are exported by the standard
Cloudberry/Greenplum environment scripts, so users running gpbackman
from a sourced cluster shell no longer need to repeat --history-db
 on every invocation.

2.
Fix: gprestore --resize-cluster fails with --jobs > 1

When restoring with --resize-cluster from a larger to smaller segment
count, gprestore expands the oid list into (oid, batch) pairs in
oid-major order ([T1B0, T1B1, T2B0, T2B1, ...]) and preloads
min(NumConns, len(oidList)) segment pipes before starting the helpers.

Coordinator workers take one task per table and iterate batches
sequentially inside restoreSingleTableData, so the k-th worker's first
COPY targets oidList index k*batches. When batches >= 2 and --jobs > 1
(NumConns > 1), workers beyond NumConns/batches race ahead of helper
pipe creation and fail with:

ERROR: command error message: cat: .../<pipe>_<oid>_0: No such file
 or directory

and the restore only succeeds with --jobs 1. This matches the known
upstream gpbackup issue fixed in 1.30.6.

Preload NumConns*batches pipes (clamped to len(oidList)) so every
concurrent worker's first batch is covered. The helper then rolls its
queue forward one pipe per completed batch, and since a worker must
finish all batches of its current table before pulling the next task,
helper progress stays ahead of worker demand. For batches == 1 the
behavior is unchanged.

Fixes #92

fix: correct comment syntax for external tables in GPDB 7+ and Cloudberry

In GPDB 7.0+ and Cloudberry Database, external tables are implemented as
foreign tables under the hood. When gpbackup exports metadata for an
external table with a comment, using the traditional "TABLE" object type
causes an error during gprestore because the database expects
"FOREIGN TABLE" syntax for these objects.

This change updates the GetMetadataEntry logic to correctly identify
external tables as "FOREIGN TABLE" in newer database versions.

SQL Comparison:

Before (Fails on GPDB 7+ / Cloudberry):
--------------------------------------------------
COMMENT ON TABLE public.my_ext_table IS 'this is an external table comment';

After (Executes successfully):
--------------------------------------------------
COMMENT ON FOREIGN TABLE public.my_ext_table IS 'this is an external table comment';

refactor(restore): Adapt legacy backup detection for multi-database support (#34)

The original logic for detecting pre-GPDB6 backups was designed for a
Greenplum-only environment. In that context, the `gpbackup` process
stripped the `(Greenplum Database ...)` prefix, and the restore logic
correctly parsed the raw version number from `config.yaml`.

With the introduction of support for Cloudberry, `config.yaml` now
retains the full, prefixed version string to differentiate between
database vendors. The existing restore logic was not designed to handle
these prefixed strings and would fail to parse the major version
correctly, leading to improper `gp_use_legacy_hashops` settings and
data distribution errors.

This commit refactors the detection mechanism to be database-aware.
It now uses the standard `dbconn.GPDBVersion.ParseVersionInfo` to robustly
handle various version formats. The logic now explicitly checks if the
backup is from Greenplum (`IsGPDB()`) before checking if it is a legacy
version (`Before("6")`).

This ensures restore operations are reliable in a multi-database
environment, correctly applying legacy settings only to actual legacy
Greenplum backups while properly handling modern Cloudberry and Greenplum
backups."

When an operator
class's `STORAGE` type is the same as its `FOR TYPE` and `opckeytype` is not 0:
- In GPDB7, the expression `opckeytype::regtype` evaluates to "-".
- In CBDB, the same expression evaluates to the actual type name (e.g., "integer").

This change introduces a `CASE` statement to explicitly check if
`opcintype` equals `opckeytype`. This normalizes the behavior across
both database versions, ensuring that `storagetype` is consistently
represented as "-" when the storage type is the same as the input type,
which allows the failing test to pass.
fix(test): Use DROP EXTENSION to clean up language in Cloudberry (#22)

The test for procedural language metadata was failing during cleanup
on Cloudberry. The test creates a procedural language (e.g., plpython3u)
and defers a `DROP LANGUAGE` command to clean it up.

This fails because Cloudberry, being based on a newer PostgreSQL
version (14), treats `CREATE LANGUAGE` as a wrapper for `CREATE
EXTENSION`. This creates a dependency where the language is owned by the
extension and cannot be dropped directly. The correct cleanup command
is `DROP EXTENSION`.

This commit adapts the test's cleanup logic. This was insufficient and could lead
to incorrect behavior when running against Apache Cloudberry Database,
as features might be enabled or disabled based on a versioning
scheme that doesn't apply.

This change systematically updates version-sensitive conditional
logic to be database-aware. We
might wait up to a minute. To see this we need a good number of tables and we
need them to be large enough to trigger the backoff. We make it
uneven across partitions so some are larger than others.

If we have this table we can remove the smaller 100 tables we had before and
also reduce the number of tiny tables we had.
"
